Sauk River

A beautiful but fishless day on the Sauk, with temperatures reaching into the balmy mid-50's. There are a ton of people out here right now, due in part, to the closure of the Skykomish and NF Stillaguamish Rivers to steelheading (the wild steelhead escapement numbers are way too low... again). Just about every hole was taken by the time I arrived. The early bird definitely nets the fish this time of year...
There are a ton of cut banks on this lower section of the river. The 2003 flooding event is still evident throughout the river. Still have yet to see any of the neighborhood wolf-hybrids that reportedly peruse this area.
This spot looked promising, but no dice.
Nice hook...

Dunes and snow. Hopefully the above average snowpack this year will create a big freshet, which could help flush some more of the this crap out.
